Required Computer Specs

We recommend the following:

  • Intel Core i5-4670 processor (or its AMD equivalent)
  • 8GB of RAM
  • Windows 7 or newer (you can stream from a Mac, too.)
  • More important than your PC specs is your internet connection; you’ll definitely want to stay wired via Ethernet for the best possible bitrate.

Key Terms

Add Audio Input Capture – this is where you can add a microphone or instrument input to allow OBS to stream high-quality audio. Your device/mixer should show up under this area.

Getting Started

The first step is to Download OBS. This will let you add text, audio inputs, and video inputs. www.OBSproject.com

Launching Video Software (OBS)

Launch OBS, and click Settings in the bottom-right corner.

Choose Stream from the left-side navigation menu

Choose Facebook Live from the Services dropdown

Select auto-detect or default for the best streaming server based on your location

Click “Link” and this will take you to Facebook.

On Facebook, click create live stream. Copy the Stream key from the Live API page on Facebook and paste it into the blank back on OBS

NOTE: If you have an older computer, you may need to go to video -> then change your resolution to 1280x720p. If your computer is newer, skip this step and leave it at 1920×1080.

Next, you can add your camera on OBS by Clicking the + sign under sources.

Adding Audio Sources to OBS

If you have your instrument connected to your computer, you will be able to find it under Audio Input Capture, JACK Input Client, or Media Source, the sources box by clicking on the + sign.

Adding the transparent song request window

Start by clicking the + sign under sources again and now click on Browser.

Add in the url app.mysetmusic.com/live/artist-name (replace the spaces in your name with – ) in the URL blank

Set the width to 425 and the height to 1080.

Make sure to edit the url field to have your artist link: app.mysetmusic.com/live/artist-name.

This link refreshes every 5 minutes so it will change from “This band is not having an event right now” to the requests that you get once you make your event live on the app.

Move the window to where you prefer on the screen.

Right click the browser tab under sources and click the filters button.

Click the + under the effect filters area. Click Chroma Key.

Change Key Color Type to Custom.

Next to the Key Color, Click on Select color and enter the Hex code: #172437

Set the similarity to 1, the smoothness to 6 and key color spill protection to 100 to complete the transparent effect.

Begin Your Stream

Press “Start Streaming” on the right-hand side to go live on all of your platforms.
